Travel through the majestic Canadian Rockies, Banff, Jasper, Lake Louise whilst sitting in dome cars that create the illusion of being in the open as the train passes through spectacular scenery. AccommodationThe three classes of travel, GoldLeaf Deluxe, GoldLeaf and SilverLeaf, all offer an exceptional experience. No on-board sleeping accommodation. GoldLeaf Deluxe and GoldLeaf are a similar service, the difference being the standard of hotel accommodation. Enjoy a drink in reclining seats that rotate, whilst admiring panoramic views from full-length dome windows in the dome car, accessed from the dining car by a spiral staircase or lift. In the dining car guests can enjoy delicious cuisine prepared in the galley kitchen. The large picture windows ensure spectacular panoramas. Wander along to the observation deck and stand outside whilst the scenery whistles past. SilverLeaf enjoys panoramic views in single-level glass-domed car. Every effort will be made by train staff to minimise any impact; the Luxury Train Club cannot accept any responsibility for any changes. The Club aims to keep itineraries as up to date as possible. Altitude Sickness Travelling up to higher altitudes slowly can make things easier so we recommended travelling on Rocky Mountaineer eastbound towards the Rockies, if you are concerned about altitude sickness. Here is some more information about altitude sickness, relevant to Rocky Mountaineer, that we have on our Andean Explorer page. Some example elevations: First Passage to the West from Vancouver to Banff/Lake Louise goes over the Bow Summit which is 2,073m (or 6,800ft) Journey through the Clouds takes the northern route over the Yellowhead Pass which is 1,131m (3,711ft); to get to Calgary down the Icefield Parkway the train climbs to 2,073m (6,800ft) at the Columbia Icefield Glacier. Mobility Impaired Access Rocky Mountaineer has a wheelchair on platforms. Private wheelchairs will be transported separately to destinations and must fold down into 50lbs (23kgs) portions. The same guidance applies to scooters. Guests who can transfer from wheelchair to regular seat: hydraulic lift or a ramp for access to Rocky Mountaineer. The wheelchair must be no more than 23ins (584mm) wide. Train staff then transfer the guest to a 15ins ( 381mm) wide wheelchair for easy access down the aisle of the railcar. If the private wheelchair is over 23ins (584mm) wide, this transfer can happen before boarding. There will be access to an ADA Washroom with wider doorways and grab bars. Guests using wheelchairs full-time: hydraulic lift or a ramp for access to Rocky Mountaineer. The wheelchair must be no more than 23 ins (584 mm) wide. SilverLeaf Service only. Due to availability, travel dates may be restricted. Meals will be served to the guest and there will be access to an ADA Washroom with wider doorways and grab bars. Hydraulic lift may not be available on motorcoach transfers and sightseeing tours but private self-booked tours could be an option. Mobility and accessibility on sightseeing tours provided by thrid parties which may have different abilities to meet mobility and accessibility needs. Ask for the Mobility Requirements Form.
