Christmas Markets of Central Europe — Budapest to Munich
Route: Budapest – Vienna – Salzburg – Munich
Journey between Central Europe’s most classical Christmas markets on the Golden Eagle Danube Express. Daylight running through the Alps offers winter-wonderland vistas, paired with signature experiences such as a concert of Viennese Christmas folk songs, a traditional Fiaker carriage ride on Vienna’s Ringstraße, and a tasting of Pirker gingerbread near St Stephen’s Cathedral.

About the Golden Eagle Train
The Golden Eagle is a fully en-suite, hotel-style train operating across Central Asia. Large panoramic windows showcase ever-changing landscapes while you enjoy refined service and regional cuisine on board.
Current routes include Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, with itineraries also visiting neighbouring countries on select journeys.

Cabins
Imperial Suites
The Imperial Suites are the most spacious cabins on the Golden Eagle, with a fixed king-size bed and a dedicated sitting area with dressing table.
Facilities include private en-suite with large power shower, underfloor heating, bathrobes, slippers and toiletries; individual air-conditioning; wardrobe and dressing table; LCD screen with DVD/CD player; safe; two large windows. Guests enjoy butler service, a selection of complimentary drinks from the premium bar list (excluding premium wines), daily towel/linen changes, included laundry service and room upgrades to the next available category at selected hotels in the itinerary.

Gold Class
Among the largest rail cabins worldwide; fully en-suite with separate shower cubicle. Five cabins per carriage.
Sleeps two in either a lower standard double (4 ft 6 in) or bunk style. Features include remote-controlled air-conditioning/heating, recessed lighting, wardrobe, safe, private en-suite with full power shower and underfloor heating, LCD screen with DVD/CD, daily towel/linen changes and complimentary tea/coffee/mineral water. Drinks from the Bar Car are included from the Standard Bar List. Laundry available for a fee.

Silver Class
Compact yet comfortable fully en-suite wet-room cabins. Six cabins per carriage.
Sleeps two in a lower standard double (4 ft) or bunk style; air-conditioning/heating, wardrobe, safe, private wet-room shower/WC, LCD screen with DVD/CD, daily towel/linen changes and complimentary tea/coffee/mineral water. Laundry available for a fee.
Restaurant Cars
Two elegant dining cars serve carefully prepared dishes using fresh local ingredients, paired with international wines (and, of course, vodka).
Lounge Car
The bar car is the social heart of the train, open until the last guest leaves. Enjoy briefings, cultural talks and occasional language lessons in relaxed surroundings.
Shangri-La Express (China)
Used on select Silk Road itineraries (typically 5 nights).
Twin-berth cabins with vintage wood-and-brass style; Pullman table and deep armchair by a large window. A dedicated shower car complements washrooms at each end of the sleeping cars. Restaurant cars serve Western breakfasts and authentic Chinese specialities, with a welcoming piano bar open late.
Cabin outline: ~38 sq ft (3.6 sq m); bunk-style beds; wash basin shared between two compartments; toilets/washrooms at carriage ends; separate shower car with individual cubicles (mirror, hairdryer, changing area). Towels, robes and slippers provided; complimentary tea/coffee/mineral water; towels/linen changed regularly.
Golden Eagle Catering
Most breakfasts and dinners are served on board; lunches are on the train or in local restaurants depending on the day’s programme. A generous allowance of wine, beer, soft drinks, tea and coffee is included with all lunches and dinners (except where stated).

Gold Class Cabin 5
The fifth cabin in a Gold carriage has a different layout due to its position. It is 68 sq ft (vs 77 sq ft standard), with a slightly larger bathroom and smaller cabin area, but offers the same amenities and Gold drinks package. Ask about reduced rates for this specific cabin.
Gratuities
All gratuities are included. Please do not tip crew, hoteliers or drivers.
Luggage
Storage space is limited in cabins; soft-sided luggage is easiest to stow. Assistance is available.
Dress Code
Casual during the day on and off the train; smart-casual in the evening.
Passports
Passports must have at least 6 months’ validity.
Visas
Visas are not included. Please allow time to obtain required visas for the countries visited. Visa support may be available via the train (fee applies).
Insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance is required and must be shown before travel.
Unforeseen Changes
Routes, timings and activities may change due to local conditions. The train team will minimise disruption; the Club endeavours to keep itineraries up to date.
