Two-night Journey with Steam Locomotive

Salute this maverick event with a convoy of vintage cars and motorbikes, our thundering steam locomotive and daring enthusiasts in their flying machines roaring overhead.

The event also includes helicopter rides, a motorcycle race, a miniature steam-train ride, live music and various vendor stalls.

The History

In 1930, Bentley racing driver Woolf Barnato wagered he could beat the famous Le Train Bleu, Cannes to Calais at the wheel of his own Speed Six Bentley.

At 5:45pm on 13 March 1930, Le Train Bleu and the Bentley set off.

The Bentley arrived in Calais so far ahead of Le Train Bleu that Barnato decided to make it to London before the train pulled into Calais.

They crossed the English Channel on a packet steamer, completed another 100km or so and, to loud applause, parked outside the Conservative Club in St James Street at exactly 3:20pm, four minutes before Le Train Bleu arrived at Calais Station.
